The United States sadly won’t get the new Toyota Land Cruiser but it will get the luxurious Lexus LX 600 and the first reviews of the off-roader have hit YouTube.
The new LX 600 is very different from the LX 570 it replaces. Most notably, it now comes standard with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 as opposed to a 5.7-liter V8. This new engine pumps out an impressive 409 hp and 479 lb-ft (649 Nm) of torque and is coupled to a ten-speed automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel-drive system with an electronic locking center differential.

These reviews show the LX 600 being tested both on the road and along some off-road trails. Importantly, the off-road tests were not performed on especially challenging terrain as there are only eight North American-spec LX 600 pre-production models in existence, so Lexus clearly didn’t want them to get damaged.
As you would imagine, the LX 600 does appear quite capable when the going gets tough. Importantly, it does not come with locking front and/or rear differentials and certainly isn’t the most capable off-roader in existence as a result. Alex on Autos also notes that the ride quality along off-road trails isn’t quite as plush as he would like.
Lexus confirmed earlier this month that U.S. pricing for the 2022 LX 600 will start at $86,900, making it $30 cheaper than its predecessor. Various different trim levels will be offered, including the $95,000 LX 600 Premium, the $101,000 LX 600 F Sport Handling, the $103,000 LX 600 Luxury, and the flagship $126,000 LX 600 Ultra Luxury.
